The famous statue of Magda Jetelová, which has stood for almost ten years in front of Museum Kampa, has become a powerful symbol of the institution. It was intentionally created from black poplar wood, which has only a limited life.
Our restorer regularly observed its condition and took steps to maintain the chairs structural condition for as long as possible. In September this year he recommended that the sculpture should be removed due to the state of the wood. This took place on Tuesday, October 30, and the statue was cut into smaller pieces, which are being removed.
At present, in collaboration with the artist, we are working on a new project.
