At the beginning of the February the construction continued into the upper floors of the main building. The main entrance and the stairwell (along with the tower with its view of Lesser Town and Prague castle) had to be closed to the general public. In the main offices another new artistic installation was conceived again inspired by the works of Karel Nepraš.

On the spot, where previously stood the “Chair” by Aleš Veselý is now the work “Stairs” created by an unknown construction worker.

Air conduits, which will provide the proper climate conditions for our art collections traverse the entire museum.

A common interest for both the Museum and the construction company is the completion of all construction works as soon as possible.

During January the construction moved into the main building of Museum Kampa. The entrance to the Museum was closed off by temporary wall, which was highlighted by Jan Mládek’s famous quote “If a nation’s culture survives, then so does to the nation.”

The first spaces which are fully climatized and open to the public are the “Stables” exhibition hall and the Museum Shop. On display is a selection of works from our Central European collection. Our curator, Jiří Machalický, chose some of the best works from this collection for this newly reconstructed space.

As mentioned, the Museum Shop is newly opened to the general public. Our Shop offers a wide variety of books in English on international and local art and artists, posters, exhibition catalogues and postcards. We also offer exclusive jewellery created by young and upcoming designers.

A dominant in the Lesser Town – on November 20, 2009 Museum Kampa finally began its investment into the future. Despite the partial shutdown of the Museum we are preparing new exhibitions for the public. Long term construction work was started in the previous weeks.
