Dear friends,

Museum Kampa cares for one of the most significant collections of artistic works by František Kupka, Otto Gutfreund and by Central European modern artists from the years 1965-1985, and we also have in our care the Jiří and Běla Kolář and Chalupecký collections. Since our celebrated opening in September of 2003 we have organized  just over 50 interesting exhibitions, for example Yoko Ono, Turbulence – Karel Malich, Matej Krén, Joseph Beuys, Julian Opie , František Kupka / Piet Mondrian, Theodor Pištěk and Andy Warhol.

Besides our exhibiting activities we also organize other activities such as lectures given by experts, commentated tours for school groups, Kid’s Day, work shops for students and Night in the Museum, which are organized by our newly founded Education department. Since 2006 we have been cooperating with the Akropolis publishing house and with professor Ladislav Matějka, in the preparations of publishing a three volume set of correspondences between Jiří Voskovec and Jan Werich, whose first volume was released in February of 2007 and the second in the fall of 2007, which was named book of the year for 2007.

We are always planning and preparing interesting exhibitions, activities and events for visitors and friends of Museum Kampa. We believe that all of these activities will be significant cultural events. The realization of these exhibitions and activities is very costly. Since Museum Kampa is a non profit organization we have to find other means and possibilities in order to obtain financial resources and the Friends of Museum Kampa generously support these activities and our care of these national treasures.

We would like offer you an opportunity to get involved in the activities of Museum Kampa in the form of membership in our Museum Kampa Society of Friends.

This membership brings together supporters and admirers of fine art. As a member of our larger family you will enjoy the many amenities that this membership brings you – invitations to our openings, lectures, events, and concerts. Membership donations are put towards preservation of the collections, to the preparation of temporary exhibitions and the preparation of our other activities. Only members of the Museum Kampa Circle of Friends will be invited to our openings and to our other events.

It would be for us an honour if you become a member of this organization and support Museum Kampa.

Sincerely yours,

Mgr. Jan Smetana
