Musea Kampa's Interactive Programs

Square world of Otto Gutfreund

Suitable for: elementary school, secondary school

At the beginning of the 20th Century a new art movement - Cubism- was born. Popular among Czech artists, it appeared in paintings, sculputures, architecture and applied art.

During this workshop, we'll follow in the footsteps of Czech sculptor and pioneer of cubist sculpture Otto Gutfreund, taking the same artistic path he did a hundred years ago. Not only will we look at Czech art but also the international artistic landscape, where Pablo Picasso and George Braque will be introdued to students as the founders of cubism. We will try to take reality apart, breaking it down into basic geometric shapes and then putting it back together again to make unique Cubist works of art.

Let's order this!
